Cape Town City’s winless run continued after rallying back from two goals down to secure a 2-2 draw against Polokwane City in the DStv Premiership on Sunday afternoon.

Lindokuhle Mtshali, Luciano Van Heerden, Lucky Baloyi, Tlou Nkwe and Sibusiso Tshabalala earned a recall for the host from the draw with SuperSport United before Patrick Fisher made a rare start for the Citizens.

Rise and Shine hit the ground running on eight minutes as Simon Ramabu edged out the presence of mind to get hold of Oswin Appollis’ ball and executed.

Youngster Jaedin Rhodes seemed lively and pivotal for City earlier on and pulled to an advanced position to set up Taahir Goedeman for an effort, but the latter nodded over.

Rise and Shine added a second on the half-hour mark through a well-taken finish from the area by Given Mashikinya – giving Darren Keet no chance.

The Citizens issued a double change five minutes to halftime in Marc Van Heerden for Relebogile Mokhuoane and Ramazani Tshimanga in place of Fisher.

Eric Tinkler’s men didn’t stop probing and were denied by the post a minute to the break following Thabiso Kutumela’s header from a cross by Rhodes.

Kutumela did made up on the stroke of halftime when he placed a pin-point header beyond Mtshali after meeting a corner-kick from Darwin Gonzalez.

The visitors levelled two minutes in the second half after a telling delivery from Gonzalez invited Khanyisa Mayo to finish from close-range and bagged his tenth goal of the season.

Polokwane attempted a response a little later through the header of the man who opened proceedings Ramabu, but he went wide.

The Citizens looked to snatch the winner a little to the final stages with a header from Tshimanga, but he hit the upright and ultimately left the spoils shared between the two teams.
