Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Humphrey Mlwane is not convinced the current technical team will save them from missing out on the Top Eight.

The Amakhosi technical staff includes Cavin Johnson, Dillon Shepherds and goalkeeper coach Aubrey Mathibe.

The Soweto giants visit AmaZulu FC at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday, under pressure to collect no less than three points in that battle, something Mlwane feels is akin to expecting free assistance from a car guard.

"I'm sorry to say this, but it's going to be difficult for Kaizer Chiefs," Mlwane openly declares, speaking to this website.

He adds, "The Chiefs technical staff don't think outside the box, they are too predictable. I predict a very difficult game for them. At the moment, only prayer can save our Top Eight spots.

The former destroyer appeals for divine intervention to save the team he once turned out for, in their effort to save a season that is already in tatters.

"I pray to the Almighty to help them collect some points because in AmaZulu, they are playing against a team that is running away from danger. They can only overcome AmaZulu if they think from outside the box and do all the right things. The Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu FC technical staffs, it's difficult even to tell which one is the strongest," says Mlwane.

The biggest problem, he believes, on the side of the Amakhosi technical team, is a failure to think outside the box.

"I was very disappointed with their approach in the [Mamelodi] Sundowns game. How can you replace [Christian] Saile with [Sibongiseni] Mthethwa? Where was the logic in that? I don't know what they were defending because the score was already 2-0 in favour of Sundowns.

"We all want to see a local coach succeed, but his decision-making leaves a lot to be desired. There's no cohesion in this Chiefs team, we don't keep the ball at our feet long enough, and we never put the opposition team under attack for even five minutes."
