Erwin Saavedra is back in action again almost a year since his last appearance while at Mamelodi Sundowns.

Bolivian midfielder Erwin Saavedra is back playing football again after a horror stint with Mamelodi Sundowns.

Saavedra had a dismal stay at the Tshwane giants since joining in January 2022 from Bolivar La Paz.

The Bolivian arrived at Chloorkop as a regular in the national team, but then a catalogue of injuries ultimately led to him becoming excess to requirements.

The 27-year-old played only 10 games (totalling 265 minutes) in two years for the Brazilians, who took a financial knock from this transfer business.

To his benefit, Saavedra earned big money and added two league titles to his collection while at Sundowns.

His last appearance for the side came in April and he was then not registered for the current season due to foreign quota issues.

Away from all that happened at Sundowns, Saavedra is already getting minutes back at Bolivar La Paz.

He played 45 minutes against The Strongest in his first appearance in the Bolivian Primera Division Apertura.

Then, on Friday, he was brought in for a short run in the 2-1 victory over Club Jorge Wilstermann, which meant Bolivar went through to the quarterfinals top of their group.

Saavedra will have plenty football to play ahead in Bolivia this year with the hope of then ultimately making his way back to the national team.
