SuperSport United defender Tyson Hlatshwayo has revealed how he turned down an offer from Mamelodi Sundowns before choosing Orlando Pirates and explained where it went wrong with the Buccaneers.
The former Bafana Bafana captain joined Pirates in 2020 and made an impressive 38 appearances across all competitions for A Pirates that won the MTN8 title in his first season

Speaking to journalists at the Multichoice Player Transition Programme on Wednesday, Hlatshwayo confirmed that prior to his move to Pirates, he had turned down an offer from The Brazilians.
"Yes I did [make the right decision]," the centre back responded when asked if he felt he made the right decision.
"And that offer from Pirates was much better.
Ultimately Hlatshwayo’s time with the Soweto giants would turn sour as his on-field playing time drastically reduced to just 13 appearances in his second season.
He did not feature any any of Pirates' last 12 league matches of the season and it came as little surprise when he opted for a switch to SuperSport United ahead of the 22/23 campaign.
"I’m happy now," Hlatshwayo said on his switch to Matsatsantsa.
"I fell in love with the game when I joined SuperSport again. I fell out of love with the game[at Pirates]. I wasn’t playing. I last played during COVID [lockdown period] I think it was against Chiefs, the results were not forthcoming for the team and ja.

Hlatshwayo insists he was not too affected by the criticism he faced during his time with the Sea Robbers.
"Not really because I’m not one to read too much into social media and I knew before going to Pirates what the spotlight would be like."
Despite an ankle injury, the 34-year-old has made 19 appearances this season and will be looking to build on his form when SuperSport return to action on 3 April against Lamontville Golden Arrows.
