Manchester City booked their spot in the FA Cup final after netting a late winner to defeat Chelsea 1-0 at Wembley Stadium on Saturday evening.

The big team news on the day saw Julian Alvarez come in for Erling Haaland, who missed out through injury while Nathan Ake and Stefan Ortega were recalled by Pep Guardiola.

The game got off to a lively start as Kevin de Bruyne did well to play in PhiL Foden, who got around Blues goalkeeper Ðorde Petrovic but could not finish after being pushed wide.

While City enjoyed most of the possession in the first half, Mauricio Pochettino's charges were a big threat on the counter attack with Jackson and Madueke on the flanks while Cole Palmer also got his touches.

City goalkeer Ortega was finally called into action ten minutes before the halftime break, with the German getting down well to keep out a strike from Madueke in the 18 yard area.

It was all Chelsea in the early stages of the second half, as Jackson squandered two big chances in the opening five minutes after being set up by Conor Gallagher and Palmer.

The speedy Jeremy Doku was introduced after the hour mark and nearly got the breakthrough soon after as he weaved his way into the box but saw his strike denied by Petrovic.

With the game seemingly headed for extra-time, City got the all-important winning goal when Bernardo Silva got on the end of De Bruyne's cross and fired past Petrovic at the far post.
