With Saudi Arabia said to be a potential next destination for Mason Greenwood, the departing Manchester United star reportedly has a certain Cristiano Ronaldo concern in the Saudi Pro League.

With his career at Old Trafford now effectively over, it is unclear, as things stand, where the 21-year-old will attempt to relaunch his career.

According to reports, it is unlikely this will take place in the Premier League, with a move away from his native country considered a much more feasible option as clubs in England are said to be unwilling to associate themselves with the disgraced star after United announced their decision to help him find a new club on Monday.

Turkey, Italy, France, and Saudi Arabia are reportedly three possible destinations so far, with the likes of Atalanta and AS Monaco, among others, having been linked with a potential approach.

Serie A side Roma have since denied any interest in the young centre-forward as they are wary of the backlash the move could bring on the club, while Al Ettifaq boss Steven Gerrard also recently called reports linking his side with Greenwood's signature "Fake news" on social media, ending any hopes of the player landing up at the Liverpool icon's team.

However, with the big-spending Public Investment Fund running four of the biggest teams in Saudi Arabia, a move by Al Hilal, Al Ittihad, Al Ahli and Al Nassr is yet to be ruled out, although the Saudis are also reportedly keeping in consideration the reputational damage that is expected to come with signing the marksman.

According to The Sun, though, Greenwood fears that he will be unable to play in the Gulf state due to a feud with Ronaldo after it emerged that he had labelled the Al Nassr captain's career as "dead" when he was still in United's academy before breaking into the first team.

The comment reportedly reached Ronaldo, and the five-time Ballon d'Or was said to be infuriated by the remark.

One source told The Sun: "Ronaldo isn't known for his thick skin. He was really annoyed at what Greenwood said – but he has good reason to be when you consider what Ronaldo has achieved in his career and where Greenwood finds himself."Greenwood had his nose put out of joint when Ronaldo signed for United because he ended up playing a lot less than he had hoped for, so their relationship was difficult."

It is unclear if United with sell, loan, or terminate Greenwood's contract at this point, but advocacy groups have already demanded that any profits made from his potential sale should be donated to women survivors of abuse.
