Manchester United's disappointing season continued following a 1-1 draw with the relegation-threatened Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

Bafana Bafana international Lyle Foster, who scored in last week’s 4-1 win over Sheffield United, started once more for the visors before the Red Devils displayed no changes from their last match.

It was a decent and energetic opening from the host, who had a cutback from the left of the area granting Antony to step in and stung the gloves of Arijanet Muric.

The pace of play kept the teams on their toes, with Christian Eriksen seeing a speculative drive from the edge of the area deflect into touch.

Burnley were still under pressure midway through the half after a first-time effort from close-range by Bruno Fernandes hit the face the of the near post.

The Clarets began to come alive past the half-hour mark and came close to taking the lead through a first-time header by Foster following a free-kick, but Andre Onana produced a solid save.

Foster launched another threat minutes to the break when he made a forward run in-behind Harry Maguire to go clear, but Onana once more thwarted him.

Antony got a perfect chance to make the breakthrough five minutes after halftime with a tap-in from a pullback by Alejandro Garnacho, but Muric denied him.

The host made a double change half-way in the second half and saw Kobbie Mainoo removed for Scott McTominay and sacrificed Rasmus Hojlund to introduce Amad Diallo.

More work came the way of Muric towards the last 20 minutes as he produced a dramatic point-blank stop to smother Garnacho dispatching a half-volley.

The Red Devils were ahead ten minutes to the end after Antony intercepted a stray pass to withstand a challenge after running into the area and fired in the bottom-corner.

With four minutes to go, Burnley were handed a penalty following a foul by Onana and Zeki Amdouni lined-up to finish comfortably.

United were desperate to regain the lead and came close through a pin-point header by Carlos Casemiro, but Muric as the two sides shared the spoils shared at Old Trafford.
